I flew an Airworld Ask21 for a couple of seasons. With 24 kg auw it was definetely not to heavy.
Never got to try it, but I really think it would benefit from adding a massive steel joiner...

Not at all :) But some times the tugs available won't be capable of towing at max weight. Better flying light than resting heavy on the ground.
