    Ooopsss!!!

I noticed one of the ailerons wasn't moving a lot so I decided try to loosen it up a bit and I gave it a little tug and it came out!!!
Good thing it happened now and not up there...
It seems like the epoxy (or whatever is that they used to glue the hinges in didn't setup properly it feels rubbery and crumbles up really easy.
So I checked all the control surfaces to be sure and the same happened on the other side on the same pannel.
The problem is that the second pannel only one of the hinges is loose and I'm afraid that if I keep pulling I might break something. All the rest seem to be ok.

P.S. I tried to post pictures of it but for some reason I don't seem to be able to do it.
When I click upload it just gets stuck there for too long to be normal

The pics I meant to post before...

It was my fault I was using the wrong uploader (I went the basic one and it didn't work for me).
    Anyway,
Bits are re epoxied now and I need to take a break from this one since this week I'll be buffing and finishing the repairs on the Salto.

I have an Eagle Tree system and I'm wondering if ti would be worth to drill the vertical fin for the pitot or should I just go with the GPS RX only????
It would be nice to have the vario, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I saw comments that says that there is a delay on the transmition and makes it not very useful...
The other thing that I'm not sure how will work is all the hoses from the fin to the front of the glider, does hose length affects the readings????
    Thanks,

All harnesses are made, including the Y for the retract. What is proving to be quite a challenge is to place the batteries.
I'm trying to shove them as far forward as I can so I repacked them in different shapes.

The benefits of a regular servo are that since it does not rotate 180deg. I can use a regular clevis and adjust the end points and speed to properly setup the system with no bindings whatsoever...
Any drawbacks that anybody knows about this????

Fernando, I had mine set up with the standard servo and no binding, BUT that did not stop something jamming the retract and burning out the servo causing the batteries to fry and crasn the plane. Please ensure you run a seperate battery for the retract servo, regardless of how good you think your set up is, trust me I thought I knew better.

What I am thinking of with my new plane, is to actually install an air ram to activate the retract, that way the servo only operates a valve, simple and no risk.

    Hi Mick,
Yes I read about your misfortune with your ASG on the other forum.
I'm running two 6v 5000mah sub-C's for the Rx and a separated 4.8v for the retract.
Anyway everything is in a pause now since I had to return a bad servo and I'm waiting for a replacement.
Rainy season is knocking on the door here so no more glider flying, I waxed and put away the Salto today.
Next project is to build a couple of crates to be able to transport and store them properly and dust off the helis to be able to survive until the next glider season...

    Hi All

I just got my HF ASW28-18 finished and test flown. I balanced it at the specified 85mm (ASG29 is 84mm) and found it to be very nose heavy. When I performed a dive test, it pulled out very quickly. I'm still not finished yet and I think my balance is back at about 95mm.

I added about 460g of lead shot and epoxy in the nose then used a few 2 and 3oz weights with velcro

Finally measured the balance and it came out at 110mm from the leading edge
I do have about tripple the rudder throw but all the others are as per the instructions.

You take lead out to move the CG back, so it becomes "less" nose heavy.
Vintage wood is the BEST! But....every now and then a plastic missile can be quite enjoyable!
