    12x question

Guys, how do you make the tip ailerons trim along with the ailerons? It seems my buddy Don set up his ASH 26 with tip ailerons but cant get the trim for the aileron and tip aileron to function together?

We put them on a matchbox for now, and eliminated the TIP channel so he can fly it this weekend in Canada, but it would be nice to know,

Also, is there a way to turn off the little trim levers on the corner of the Gimbal box's ?

I am not sure that I understand the question, but here is a response based on what I think you asked.
In the system mode select item 22 wing type and enable tip ailerons.
Plug the tip ailerion servos into aux 4 (left tip) and aux 5. Set the travel, offset, dual rates, and differential as desired.
In the camber menu (item 25) set the trailing edge adjustment to match the ailerons and flaps for various flight modes.

In the system mode menu 83 Trim System set the trim values for flap and flaperon to zero, that turns of the trimmers which can now be used as switches for other mixes.

Len, I had a short visit with Larry today and brought up the issue, he could not get too deep into it at the time but thought that if the tip channels were slaved to the main ailerons instead of being dedicated named tip ailerons, than you could have the main aileron trim adjust both main and tip ailerons, yet you could have independent adjustment of each surface in the subtrim menu as well, as I have mine set up now there doesn't look to be a way to have the trim button adjust both, this may not be exactly what he said but sounds like it might work. Or maybe another somewhat unorthodox way (my idea not Larry's) would be to switch the tip aileron plugs with the main ailerons, than when you use the trim tab you are only adjusting the tips? Hmm..

    Len,

Did you and Don ever figure this out? I was playing with how to fix this last night and came up with adding a standard mix (not a multi-point curve mix) of the ailerons to the tip ailerons. You can have tip ailerons selected in the wing type menu and have all the functionality of the camber and flap system. I set up the standard mix with the aileron+ selection, that is the one that includes the trim function and is shown as AIL+ in the drop down list for the master channel. Choose tip ailerons for the slave (I think the name is TIPA, but not 100% sure, you wil know it when you see it). Under P0 settings for left and right put 100%, leave P1 at 0% and "and" to "off". This leaves the mix on for all flight modes and makes the master trim active for input in the mix.

The one thing that took me a while to figure out was why the tip aileron travel volume was greater than the aileron travel. That is hidden in the Flapperon menu (code 21 in the function menu). At the bottom of the list will be a mix of aileron to tip aileron for left and right. The default value there is +50%. This adds 50% more travel to the tip aileron travel compared to the aileron travel.

Mac described the way to turn off the left and right trimmers, which are the little ones on the corners of the gimble housings.

Maybe you can get rid of those match boxes now, if you care to.

    Thanks Scot,
No we never got to the bottom of that. We'll have to take a look at that.
