    Wilga flys again

    Hi,

It has been many years since I have been doing aerotows. And since then my Wilga has been sitting neglected in my basement. The friend I used to tow moved away. The guys I fly with were not really proficient enough in the art of aerotowing to pull me up. After a long pause in my sailplane flying, I decided to go with scale SLS, yet to have a successful flight ( another story floating elsewhere here ). Anyway, I decided to pull the Wilga out and just fly it. Maybe I'll be able to teach someone to tow. My Wilga is kind of a Mule. no time spent on scale details, purely a utility Mule. It has had it's share of mishaps ( not me at the controls ), wing snap in half, fuselage broken in half... all repaired. Now I did manage to wreck a Wilga ( won't get into the details ). It least when I do it, I do it beyond repair ( never did like to do things half way ). Attached are some pic of my tow Mule.

Looks just fine. Will look even better climbing out with a sailplane behind it.

Congratulations on getting it flying again. Enjoy!

If flying were the language of men, soaring would be its poetry

    Love the WILGA,

What size, what motor, what manufacture? It looks like a fiberglass fuse? Good looking landing gear.

Maybe you can start working with a local pilot who you can trust to fly the Wilga. You can always start with a foamie glider.

It's not complicated, bigger is better.

Its the Frisch 1/4 scale Wilga being powered by a 3W-60i, flys nice.

A couple more pics from long ago, first pics were from today ( 8-4 ).
