    forward folding props????

Do they have a technical name or something????
I been searching online but Idon't seem to be able to find any in any of the web shop (I know of).
I'm starting to wonder if they are called something different than just that?
I want to try and scratch build a SLS and I need one. I'm the type of person I can't start a scratch build until I have all the parts in my hands and I can see and feel how they look and work, weight, etc.
The project is for an ASG-29 5m so far I know the motor should be ~1Kw (not sure in the kv department but I think around 600-800???) and definitely no idea of prop size.
I found some yokes at Espritmodel but all the blades seem to be for back folding (which it starting to look like may be blades are the same for forward and back folding and may be just the stopping mechanism is different).
Thanks for any info in this subject,
    Fernando

They are pretty much proprietary items of the individual SLS manufacturers -- commercial props (RFM - Rudi Freudenthaler Modell), the company's own mechanicals. My JK K25 Evolution SLS that was supposed to arrive in late July is actually held up as JK has rejected the last couple batches of RFM props. I'm not sure if RFM sells the blades directly?

    >>trouble with the RFM blades, it seems that they are sort of unmatched, as they found out that even balanced they have high vibration and found that blades from different moulds would not mate together so they waiting to get proper sets from RFM. So that's the latest news.<<

I remember seeing a forward folding prop on a Windex in the scale soaring DVD that RCA sells. I bet Dennis Brandt, ( s2000 ) will have some information. I don't know who that particular Windex belonged to, but I know he does.

It's not complicated, bigger is better.

Forward folding prop are exactly the same than the normal folding prop. Sometime it require a little bit a
Of sanding to reach the horizontal position.

The only other folding prop type that I know of is the pusher type like on some pods, but even there a regular folding prop can be used as you can reverse the motor using the esc settings

On my pod I have regular aeronaut folding prop mounted on a three blade aeronaut hub

    Len and Stephane,
    Thanks for all that info.
I thought that you could buy forward props as easy as the back folding props but as long as I know that they can be adapted with a bit of elbow grease I'm fine.
Stephne, did you make the folding springs from scratch yourself or there is something that can be bought and adapted?

I built it from scratch using small piano wire

I use longer screws to hold the prop to the hub in order to host the spring

    Will post pictures later

My Graupner SLS has a forward folding prop, the blades are just normal Graupner 18x10 folders.

The hub is much the same as a rear folder too, it's only the springing mechanism that is different really.

Have a look at www.Graupner.de for more info, I know I wanted to make my own SLS at one point, but could not find the hubs anywhere for sale.
