Jax Florida in September? Gauging interest

Thinking of doing a 2 day (Fri/Sat) event in Jacksonville at the end of September time frame. (Sep 28/29 or Oct 5/6)

Friday is no big deal but selling it to the club to close the airplane side on a Saturday would require a decent commitment.

That said there's some definate plusses to our field.
    1. We have a pavilion, power (110 and 12v server power supply charging stations), and mens and ladies bathrooms. (the kind with walls and all! ),
    2. DSL with WiFi
    3. 300 foot paved N/S runway
    4. Easy access to the pits areas from the parking area
    5. A club member with a tow behind smoker that does our event food, it's second to none. Period.

An 80cc Pawnee, a 50CC equivilent electric Husky, and thats just our guys, if Kris brings his Porter we can tow anything.

    A--

Just great. The more events the more the hobby has a chance to grow!
If you can get the core group together I'll do whatever I can to help you promote the event.

Kris Van and I would like to get a series going in Florida or the southeast. They will have a big one down in Melbourne in March at Indian River again this year. The goal we threw around is 3 or 4 events around Florida, his, I'd have one in north Florida, and try to get someone onboard to do one in central Fl (Orlando, Lakeland, Tampa, Daytona or somewhere)

Fantastic news. Its encouraging to know there are more guys out there who are pushing the ball up the hill. It only takes one event to spark the interest.
I'm sure you will be successful and it will grow from event to event. The big deal is to get guys talking. We can help once you get everything organized. RCAT is a central point for many of your needs. Registration, promotion and down home cooking, ok, maybe the cooking is stretching it a little.
Good luck, move forward and let us know what you need us to help with.
Feel free to call if you need to.

We are on our 8th year of a medium size (60 to 75 pilots) heli fly in because I got sick of not having one close by and got my CD and started one

As for the event, been getting a little off line feedback about the Friday/Saturday thing. I'd be happy to make it 3 days and tow on Sunday as well. Our 3 day events usually have open flying on Friday until the event specific traffic justifies closing the field to the event only traffic and opening the field on Sunday when people start packing up and heading out.
