What type of sound suppression are your Guys planning on running, standard mufflers(BAP,BAP,BAP,BAP), Canisters or maybe .....tuned pipes on what looks to be a DA150?

    Scott

I ran a 1/4" half round router bit down the sides to soften up the fuslage a bit.

Do you know of any suppliers of large aluminum airstream tubing for the wing struts. I was going to get some 1-5/16"x1/2" tubing from Sea Commander.com but they have some minor mfg. difficulties for the near future.
I'll make up the wood one supplied in the kit but I'm not crazy about the metal band around the wing attach end.

    Hi Scott,
A quick search turned up this http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php

I would also thinks some sailboat makers? Might be a source.

I think I might run either dual canisters or pipes. I'm not a fan of noise, so anything we can do to quiet it down. Yes, its a DA 150.

I'm going to copy your idea on the router bit!!! I was thinking about doing something, just hadn't gotten there yet. Good Idea!

WOW!!!!!!! HOLY COW!!!! Its been almost a year since we worked on this plane. Since the Porter is completed now and I re-fit the Decathlon with different cans Monday, I guess its time to pull out this beast and git-r-dun.

Rob came over this evening for a couple hours and we balanced the Porter, set it aside and pulled out the AMR Payload Master. After a 1/2 Hr trying to figure out where we left off, we chose to split the work load. I worked on the tow release setup while Rob worked on fitting a ZDZ 180 on the nose.
Michele at AMR sent a ZDZ 180 down to stick on the front of this plane instead of the DA 150 I had bolted on already. I figured it would be fun to turn this tug into a Fire Breathing Dragon. Thank Michele!!!!

Unfortunately the cowl cuts are way off, but the bolt pattern lined up perfect. ( smart companies ) The carb is on the rear of the ZDZ, so we needed to cut a hole in the firewall for it to pass through.

This will be worked on when Rob gets a chance to come over, but we'll go full steam ahead now. The covering has been purchased, its going to be White and Red, with black strip and windows. Some checkers on the tips.

Only a little work done this evening. Tow release installation complete. Its installed with bolts and blind nuts for easy removal and servicing.

The rudder was hinged and we finished fitting the motor. Next up is rudder pull pull system and flying wires on the tail.

    Hi Len
AMR does have pre-routed struts (about 8ft).They do make them as they have special router bits.
