So, is anyone using these in their transmitters?

Vintage wood is the BEST! But....every now and then a plastic missile can be quite enjoyable!
Iīm using a Hyperion LiFePO4 2100mAh pack in my Graupner MC22.
Duration on a charge is about 9 hours before the alarm goes off, and thatīs with Weatronic 2,4 TX module, which uses quite a bit of power.
I can charge with 1,5Ah through the normal charge port, but if Iīm in a hurry, I can remove the back of the TX, and charge the pack directly at up to 4,8Ah.
Iīm very pleased with the change, even though the NiMh 3000 pack that came with the radio worked perfectly fine.

I have seen plenty of posts on RCGroups from people who are happy with LiFe transmitter packs. Personally I think the 2000 mA Eneloops are a better choice. I believe there are some newer even higher capacity Eneloops available. There was a recent post by Charles (everydayflyer) showing a discharge test comparision of LiFe and Eneloop transmitter packs. The nickel batteries give a much more predictable drop off in voltage and your low voltage alarm should give you plenty of remaining time. In contrast, the LiFe's hold a very constant voltage until the end and then rapidly drop off. By the time your transmitter's low voltage alarm would sound you probably only have 5 minutes left.
Jim Thomas uses a LiFePO4 pack in his JR12X without any issues. I will probably go that route when my current Ni chemistry 12X pack starts to degrade. I think the "steep dropoff" danger of the LiFePO4 packs is overrated.

I've heard good reports from other people and friends the 2000 Eneloops are a great choice. I'm about to order a pack
for my 12X.
