Lightbulb HF Models Landing Gear Retract Mechanism modification

    Hi all!
I would like to share with you my new AMAZING, REVOLUTIONARY modification for the retract mechanism for the HF Models ASW 28-18, ASG-29, and Ventus (although you can use this tip for any other retract mechanism). This is the end to problems due to retracts, such as drainage of battery during flight due to servo not fully opening/closing retracts and working the whole time, and retract failures during landing. My modification ensures no more adjustments of the retract! When setting up the retract, make sure you get to an ideal adjustment-when your servo will not "buzz" in the open or closed position, and you will want to stay just like that! No more unexpected buzzing and battery usage!

...and all this modification is, is a strong, sturdy aluminum plate to reinforce the retract servo mount.

I am surely satisfied of this modification! Hope this helps for all of you too!

    Happy Landings,
    Mark

I will have a video posted here maybe tomorrow of the modification in action!

P.S.: If you would like the exact measurements for the HF Model retract Wilgaman Mod, please pm me!

I guess there is a commentary with the video but the audio has been disabled by youtube.
I might be getting one of these, so I'm quite interested in mods in this area.

    Mark,

Thanks for putting this thread together. I spent several nights tinkering with an earlier version of the same plane's retract and it almost drove me crazy.

I finally came to my senses, ordered a retract servo w/ 180 degrees of travel and simplified the mechanics as much as possible, similar to your technique.

Greatly appreciate your photos and commentary,

    Mike

Any reason why we in the USA can no longer view the You Tube video? It says that the video is blocked in "your country".

    Hi,

Good idea. I also had a problem with the servo mount flexing on my Let retract. Made a support similar to yours and now the flex is under control. Retract works much better. Before, if the servo was moving too slowly, it would bind and stop. Now it swings right through no matter the speed.

EMI constantly scans the internet and especially video sites to have anything using their copyright music blocked. Mark likely has music in his video that is the cause.
