Here is a view of spring at the HighPoint Aviation Airfield today (4/21/2012) looking from the view to the southwest and turning to the northeast:

Here is the gang that braved the spring rain showers:

Sunday was the day for the new Cularis to visit HighPoint Aviation Airfield for its maiden flight. We pressed my trusty Sr. Telemaster into service for towing duty and recruited Butch to fly tow (he wasn't too hard to recruit either). :

Glamour shot before the first flight:

Here is the bottom, we did black tips for visibility at altitude:

It flys GREAT!!! Final flight of the day, carrying it back like the "big boys" do. ;D

The Cularis now joins my new Easy Glider Pro...nice stable of Multiplex sailplanes!

    Thanks Petr!

I painted the tips black on the bottoms and it sure makes a difference up in the sky.

I will be there some day it is so pretty . The terrain is perfect for thermals . A couple of great guys doing a good thing . The soaring world is so much the better because of Jim and Dave .
    All the best Josh

Saturday June 23, 2012 CharlieP, one of my Optometric colleagues and long time pilot, dropped in to spend some time with us. No, that is not a new Bill Hempel model, that is Charlie's 1:1 scale!

He had never tried aerotowing, so we checked him out and got him some serious stick time on the Easy Glider Pro. Butch is riding in the co-pilot seat ;D

The lift was booming, biggest problem was not letting it gulp you up in the sky.

Nice! I can't wait to get down there again for the fall Soar For Fun!
If flying were the language of men, soaring would be its poetry

Today was our first chance to fly our 2M glow powered tug in almost a year...kind of forgot how cute it is!
