    JR 12x Transmitter Packs

A quick question for all of you that are using the JR 12x:

I am finding that the battery life of the NiMH packs is very short in general. I have replaced one with the higher capacity 2500mAh NiMH pack that is designed for the 9303/9503 and even that one doesn't seem to have a very long charge.

Has anyone found replacemnt batteries that work better ?

I know there are other brands of the NiMH and also the LiFePO4 that are being used.

    Many thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for the information Charlie. I will have to run them through my clow chargers and cycle them.....guessing that will bring them back up to full life again.

I have been using the JR chargers just out of convienience (sp ???), but my robbe and hyperion chargers will actually test the cycles and can vharge much more accurately.

Pays to do it right.........sometimes I just need to learn a few lessons now and then

    Bob,
Throw out the charger that came with the 12x, even the "factory" guys throw them out. The 9503/9303 chargers work great. I have not had many issues since charging with the 9303 chargers.
Also, If you really want a good battery, get a hold of Steve at Hangtime hobbies, ( Gunny's friend) and he will set it up with Enloops. Great way to go.

Thanks for the information on the chargers. I'll use my good chargers and cycle the batteries and I should be in good shape.

I have noticed the 12X to be very power hungry compared to the 9303. Several times Ive goten back and recharged and the 9303 would take 300 to 500 mah and the 12X seams to take 600 to 800 mah for the same amount of flying.
    Will fly for food.

    JR12 alternate battery pack

    Hi, guys

I found the stock battery pack would never last as long as I thought it should and performed a couple of charge/discharge tests on it. The best it could do was around 1300 mah.

I then replaced it with a Sanyo 2700 mah pack I purchased on Ebay (sorry, I can't recall the vendor) and all is well now. I've never used the stock charger but a Hyperion 615i so I can't add anything about the stock charger but as was mentioned by *many* people it's not worth using.

P.S. Dave, get that 22 BL going!

    Hi
I did have the same problem...I was using their charger and I lost a plane. After the battery went dead It had to be serviced(the transmitter)They replace a complete board inside as I was not emitting anymore.
I'm using their recommanded battery...the stock one BUT I'm using a JR 9.6v...270 mah charger made for transmitter only.It sell for about $15 and work's great.
I now have plenty of time of flying using the 2000mah batt. There is a notice about this at horizon hobby.Look for "bulletin"

Thankfully, the stock battery and its charger are the only things I don't like about the 12X.

Initially, I used a set of no-name 1600 NiCads that easily outperformed the stock 2000s. Recently, however, I managed to acquire a "transmitter pack" of Sony 2700s from Great Hobbies. It was a bit of a struggle to get them into the plastic case, but once they were secured with fibre-reinforced tape and the solder connections were made, they work very very well.

I always charge with a "real" charger.
