Pal.
Congratulations. I'm so happy for you. The maiden went well and nice landing!!!
Thanks for sharing and keep the updates coming.

Pal,
A lovely aircraft it looks very nice, congratulations.
Mine is coming along slowly, its always the last wiring and making sure everything is operating perfectly that seems to take the time.
I have had a bit of trouble with broken hinges over the motor doors, but Vagenechkt were very good and sent some more hinges.
In tried the motor a short while ago, apart from the fact that the throttle was reversed that all went well. Actually I used a lower voltage pack, just to make sure the prop was turning the correct way. It was which saved a wiring job, switching wires to the motor.
I am using a soft start from Emcotec in Germany, it stops the spark on plugging in the batteries, also I think that it does not allow power to the motor until either the pin, or a magnet is removed from the control unit, quite a safety feature. On the paritech Bald Eagle I had, there was always quite a spark when I plugged the batteries into the ESC.
It looks like I will need some form of sequencer, for the prop to ensure it stops in the correct vertical position. As while testing, to ensure it worked the prop would stop anywhere, not very useful to try and get it into through the doors.
A lot of tidying up still to do, to make sure batteries/wiring etc look ok and are safe.
About the only 2 real problems left is to get the retract working fully, (it comes up about 90%) and to sort out what is causing the prop to jam on the gear doors,
(even if it is correctly aligned) as it folds fully away.
Len How do I put a photo onto the forum. What I have done may help someone in the future.
Best wishes
Ross
Pal, send some of that weather down here, its chilly 10 to 15C (50-60F) but very very wet..
Hi Ross,
It's actually very simple, Click on GO ADVANCED, in the lower right corner of the TEXT box.
Then click "manage attachments" a little ways down.
A box will appear that says "add files"
Click Add files,
Click "select files" under that box
choose the location you store your pictures on the computer and select the pictures you want to load. You can load many at one time by holding the command key and choosing them ( apple )
Click on UPLOAD files
They will appear on the screen below, now you can just click insert
That is the basic way to just get a picture up.
TOM did a nice tutorial here http://www.rcaerotowing.com/forum/sh...y-of-a-message
On getting pictures into the BODY of the TEXT.
It's not complicated, bigger is better.
PHOTOS: There is a direct link in the toolbar above every post. Look at the tools above your post -- you get bold, italic, etc. Then font and size, then smiles, then moving farther right there is a final group that includes insert photos (icon is a picture) and insert videos (icon is a film strip).
Click on this iconin this tool bar above
You can load directly from your computer or from a web URL

Hi all,
Well the weather is still not marvellous, its only chilly for Auckland, but thank goodness it is not wet, thats next week.
I have been working on the Shark 304, about the only major thing to do now is to install the Merbold sequencer.
I have emailed Dirk and he is working on an English translation of his instructions.
A sequencer is definitely essential to ensure the prop is in its correct position when it closes.
History I should know I tried to put away the motor on my full size ASG29E When I ran out of height, ideas etc, NOT good.
I have added a few photos of the plane showing where I am up to, if any one has any advice, comments please say so.
This was my first time at putting it all together and checking it all worked.
By the way the plane in the background of one of the photos is an Airworld Hawker Hunter I have been putting together for about a year.
Lets hope these photos work

A quick comment, I wish I had known about the SPS units from Emcotec previously. They prevent power getting to the ESC so there is no sparking and absolute safety until the pin or magnet is removed. On one of the photos you can see I have placed the pin up by the Weatronic battery switch,

Ross.
I know it seems like a lot of stuff in a little space, but thats pretty much what my Shark looks like too. Its a small front end for all the batteries and radio equipment, then add a speed control, power distribution, etc.....
Photos look good. Keep plugging away.

I thought I would bring you up to date on progress.
Finally with a lot of help I have conquered the Elicker up and go unit. A tremendous amount of help from Dirk Merbold, the manufacturer of the sequencer used in the Elicker unit and the Orbis2.0. The questions I asked were answered very quickly even from his Iphone at times and obviously late at night in Germany.
Some notes: Dont let the arm on the up and go retract quickly with the prop, not vertical, it damages the hinges on the doors and they are difficult to repair, yes I found out the hard way. Make sure the retract is set up for a slow lower.
The programmer for the sequencer is essential, but the changes are only stored in the sequencer after the programmer is turned off.
A servo plugged into the motor control position of the servo will show that the motor system is working or not, without having to liven power to the ESC and the prop.
Yes I could have saved a lot of grief and help from Dirk if I had requested Vagenknecht to fit the Elicker Up and go all set up with the limit switches, and programmed ready to operate. However I have learnt a lot as to how it all works, by having to sort it out, fit limit switches and program the sequencer.
So about all that is left on the 304, is to finish tidying up the cabling, and then whenever it stops raining here in Auckland, put the plane together, and using the Gigacontrol software for the Weatronic system, set up all throws on the control surfaces.
So almost there.
Regards to all
Ross
