    1/3 Duo-Discus

Well, time to start this thread.......I bought this kit from Pete George who bought it from Wil Byers who bought it from.....let's just say this kit has been passed around more then the "entertainment" at a bachelor party..... I am the forth owner...I think.
The kit is from Herr Mueller and consists of a Rosenthal fuse...Mueller wings and tail and a retract from somebody....can't find any name on it.
It is full 1/3rd scale so has a Satan's wing span of 6.66 meters and should come in around 35 lbs. ready to fly.

I plan to go with mostly Airtronics Digital Servo's in it....I fly JR but do not like the "Buzz" that comes with using their servo's..... this is what I plan to use.

    Tip Aileron - A-94820MG @ 90oz
    Main Aileron - A-94820MG @ 90oz
    Rudder - A-94851MG @ 192oz
    Elevator - A-94851MG @ 192oz
    Spoilers - HS-645MG @ 133oz
    Tow - HS-5755MG @ 347oz
    Retract - HS-5755MG @ 347oz

For the Receiver I plan to go with a JR922X Powersafe unit.

Hooked to that will be 2 of these: LiFe Po4 6.6v 3800mah batteries.

The retract will be hooked to a separate LiFe pack of it's own with a separate switch.

I plan to cover the wings in Vinyl Sign material...white on the top and blue bottoms....yes, not scale but I like to be able to SEE my airplanes in the air!

The fuse will then be painted to match the wing white.

First up is to order all the servo's and other airborne "stuff".....there goes a grand!
Vintage wood is the BEST! But....every now and then a plastic missile can be quite enjoyable!

    NICE PLANE TOM!!
Just to understand, the wings are from Hans Muller?
I agree about the servo buzz, don't be afraid to look at the MKS servos, very nice .

Yes, wings are Mueller foam/obechi. The kit is over 10 years old I believe and has sat around in a bunch of different shops during that time.

Hey Tom. Most excellent! I hemmed and hawed back and forth about buying that kit from Wil back in the day and then again from Pete when I bought my 1/4 Duo. Probably would have just been another stop over before it got to you anyhow. You got the Duo and Alfred got the 505 more recently from Wil -- all is good with the world. Looking forward to the build thread and even more to seeing you fly it!

Just sent for the vinyl for the wing covering......white for the top surface and dark red for the bottom. I plan to have the fuse graphics cut from the same dark red material.
This weekend while I tough out the "little rain shower" we are suppose to get here I'll take some more detail shots of the various parts and get some weights together so I have a base line weight for the ship.

    Sure can.....
    Signwarehouse
I got the 24" x 10 yds....... So 2' x 30'.....one roll for the top and one for the bottom......the drops will do the rudder and elevator/slab.
Total order was $58.48 with shipping......a far cry from the last covering order of over $350 for the TG-2!
I have to thank my friend Stephane .....ie: sruelle here for turning me onto using vinyl for covering. When I saw his SZD-59 at Cumberland I thought that the wings on it where painted glass.....when he told me that it was vinyl I was blown away.
