At an air show in Poland, a "safe" accident occured. I would like to ask the mechanics a few questions...

Try this on for size.
When I was a line boy at Sugarbush Soaring in the 70s a tow pilot had a sign in his L19 that said " A mid air can ruin your whole day . " I thought it was amusing then , now I think it was a reminder that it was serious business . I think that with the handicap of being 1 second behind our models and tricky depth perception mid airs will happen . All we can do is try not to cry and pick up the pieces .
I was at the Interlaken 2010 aerotow whn an 8m Duo Discus and another very nice sailplane collided. It was not pretty. Both planes came out of the air to total destruction. There was some crying being done, right next to where I was standing. I felt so bad for the two guys. but time and time again we learn that two molecules can not occupy the same space.

It's not complicated, bigger is better.
I always remeber being told to go over or under, when depth perseption is in question..... I've been taken out buy a midair when someone decided my thermal looked inviting..... I was also told when joining a thermal to always circle in the same direction. I collision in 30 years of flying gliders......
