Petr,
Shaping that aluminum wing fairing had to be all kinds of funHow did you do that so nicely?
Your attention to detail is amazing,

Thank you Mike! The fairing was little tricky. Basically just roll the AL sheet over the leading edge first. The hard part here is not to crush the wing while doing itIt bended ok so I guess it it isn't 7075
Once the front end was shaped I rolled the sheet over the edge of the table and also used large diameter dowel to give the sheet little curve. Sort of like the guys on American Chopper do with gas tanks and such
Then it was just matter of bending it over the trailing edge. The plan here is that the front end of the faring just hooks over the leading edge /snug/ then the rear end snaps over the trailing edge. The rear end will get secure with a spring or bungee or something so it doesn't pop off. I may add a spring or two to the front of the faring as well just in case. Well that's the plan anyway
I need to get the suspension done next. Need to attach the rubber hose to the fuse and to the skid...somehow.
I still have to get the spoilers to work.

More done....
Worked on the suspension. Created pockets for the rubber hoses
Attached the pieces of hose
Here it is
I may replace the hose with different size. Especially the front one.
The receiver is in. Had to go with old 72MHz as I don't have $$ for new 2.4GHz now. I;'m sure it will get replaced later.
More to be done tonight.
I did came to realization that it will not be ready for next weekend![]()
I'll have to fly the little Discus at the New England Aerotow. It may not be a bad thing as I have not aerotow since the fall.

I made small modification to the suspension. The hoses now have smaller diameter and fit in much better. I also added small pieces of rubber between the skid and the fuse where the skid is screwed on. I'm told that it will help to prevent the skid being ripped out of the fuse. Thanks Michael!

I have to second the attention to detail comments made in this thread. I always check the photos/updates, but don't post mostly because I have nothing to add! Great work!

Great day of flying in Salem today!! I was really mad I didn't get the 1-7 done for this event. Oh well....
I wasn't to do much in terms of detailing the 1-7 but Alex had some nice stuff there today...

Just about the last thing to do on this build before covering is to get the spoilers working.
I tested many different ways and I think I'll go with this.
Sprigs. Maybe not the best solution but it works the best for me now.
I bought a bunch of springs in a hardware store.
Then start playing with the size
Still need to do little bit more testing to decide if I attach the spring at the TE of the spoiler or the LE.
It works both ways but the Front mounted may be better.
To open the spoiler the servo horn just pushes it up
Here is a video of the action
And the tow release is all set now too.
Getting there.....
Petr
PS:the cut up servo horns for the spring is just a mock up![]()
