Not much got done today as I was busy with other things.

I managed to add the top LE sheeting and the cap strips. Couldn't do the bottom sheeting as I need to attach the wing attachment and wing strut brackets first. I don't have the proper bolts so I'll do that tomorrow.

After the bottom sheeting I'll add the LE.

I also assembled and dry fitted the air break

Until recently I was under the impression that the wings for the Avia BH-1 I'm building were big. Don't think that anymore

    More to come tomorrow.....

    Quick update.....

two out of three brackets are in. One more to go.

    Wing strut bracket

    Front spar wing attachment bracket

    The bottom sheeting is on

As well as the leading edge and the bottom cap strips

Aileron is hinged and the control horn mounting plate fitted

    Things left to do:

    Shape the LE
    Final sanding
    Install aileron servo + cover
Install the spoiler and set up the control
Add the missing wing attachment bracket

Still plenty to do. Then build the second half of the wing. If all goes as planned I'll have he wings done by the end of the week.

    Petr,
You're moving right along. Before long, we'll be flying that thing at Salem. Keep plugging away.

It's not complicated, bigger is better.

Moving along.....second wing half is on the board. Should be done this weekend.

Also, I just ordered bunch of Solartex from Michel over at AMR. Very fast, good service, price etc.

Nowhere close to be done with the wings but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel

    Question for anyone ......

Trying to sort out the size /power of servo I should get for the tow release. I know the more power the better but there is a budget to stay within . What would you think will be "good enough" but safe? I don't have any digital servos so I'm looking at analog Hitec or Futaba. I guess I could do JR as well. I'll use 6V for power.

Would something in the 130-150 oz-in be enough?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Petr,

I am far from an expert on tow releases. I have built one. In my case, due to limited space, was forced to use a small servo, maybe 40 oz/in. Of course, you can increase the power output of the servo by using in most inner hole on the servo arm. In my case this provided enough throw to operate the release. Works great with my 5 lb. glider. Also you can do a static load test on the release mechanism. My release, that works great in the air, has difficulty releasing a 8 lb. weight.

Sorry, I haven't fully warmed up to posting pics on this forum yet.

    Hi Kent,

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your input. Great looking plane by the way!

For a 1:3 scale plane a Hitec HS-645 should be good enough. As already mentioned, make sure the geometry is maximized by using the inner most hole in the servo arm that will still work the release mechanism.
