Myself , like Mark did not know Michael from Shinola... Thank you for your additions to that regard. I was simply making observations about obvious deficiencies, one of which you admit to having re-engineered on your own bird, with "vertical guides". I would double the area of that forward mounting point as well as add some means of lateral control to the rear of the unit. The design has obvious flaws, in my book, and I was merely pointing them out.

Stating something is well engineered because it has survived a crash is ridiculous. Remember how they used to build cars 60 years ago, you could drive them into a wall and not damage them, but they got shitty mileage and the occupants often suffered dreadfully in crash scenarios.

I have over forty years experience in this hobby as well as twenty plus years in full scale aviation. While I am not an engineer, "...in the true sense of the word...", I can spot possible problem areas pretty damn easily and accurately.

Wingnut (you didn't sign your posts so I don't know your name and can't address you properly),

If in the future you have an issue or concern about a seller's product, can you please do that person a favor and take your issue off-line. A simple PM to Michael would have been a good approach.

Whether or not you know someone "from Shinola", please first give them the benefit of the doubt. There is really no need to convince everyone reading this thread of your 60 years of experience. There a bunch of really smart people contributing to this site so you're in good company.

We could all go to school on that experience if, for example, you did a review of various retracts as I suggested. I'm sure you've picked up a few good tips or learned something new from this site; pay it back (or forward as you wish) and contribute some of that hard-earned knowledge and experience that you have.

If you're going to attend the JR, I'd really like the opportunity to sit down and discuss this over a beer,

    Mike

    LOL,

I have to agree with the fact that there are a TON of VERY VERY smart, talented and knowledgeable guys on this site. More so than any I have run across. I also agree, guys should sign their posts all the time. We then get a little more friendly and when we meet someday, we already know your name.

    Hello YYZ

My name is Wolf, many of my other posts have a sig, you can find them with just a few clicks, I was not aware that it was required. I usually include my name but it was late and I overlooked it. <<By the way Len, the time stamp on the site is off and I do not see anyway in my profile to correct it on my end.>>

The post appears to be from the builder of the unit not someone reselling a spare, does SMYK make this thing? Is "SMYK" Michael? I assumed from the post that SMYK is the person making this LG, I guess I must have made an ass of myself. Oh well, life goes on. I am by no means perfect. :o)

I was simply making some observations that were meant to be constructive, I did explain that I was not trying to be "too critical", however if there is no feedback on a product, then... As far as addressing directly, I thought I was. when selling a product, you should not try to hide any short-comings, and actually welcome the input and adjust when warranted. You have admitted to one of the flaws yourself. I never challenged the intelligence of anyone on this forum, I would agree with Len that this site has a great number of very knowledgeable folks on board.

It is very easy for individuals to take statements, made via text, the wrong way. I maintained a civil tone and never used any inappropriate language. I have a very thick skin and do not understand your rub with my observations, even critical ones. I do not understand why you are involved at all when SMYK is silent. If he has a problem with what I said, give him the respect and let him handle it.

Peace, Wolf <<<< this is my usual "sig", words I live by. But if you poke me in the eye...

    It's all good.

Wolf, the time stamp is controlled by you, on the top left welcome bar, there is a "Settings" tab, in there you will see "General Settings"
Scroll to the bottom portion and you'll see the time zone options.
Choose your zone and save the changes.

    * again, remember to click "SAVE CHANGES"

    Yes, Len

I know about the setting on my profile, I went through all that when I joined. :o)

I was noticing earlier that there was a really strange time stamp on the post at the top of this page, it read 0500 or so in the morning, now it looks more like what I remember it being. Very strange. Oh the wonders of technology. LOL

Now lets stop thread jacking poor ol' Mikes LG thread before someone ges their knickers in a bunch. :o)

    Peace, Wolf

Holy time stamp Batman! I just noticed that when I am logged off, the time stamp reads 05:22 and when logged on the same post reads 11:22 pm. Very strange, anyone else seeing this?

    Peace, Wolf
