Hobby Lobby 2" Glider Towline Release

    Hey guys,
Here I will show you an easy modification that will only take minutes

The problem is that the Hobby Lobby 2" Glider Towline Release gets stuck, and binds, when closing. Thus, the servo will have much resistance, causing battery draining, blah blah blah. etc... In the picture I have marked "L" meaning that is left side of the release. When looking at it from the back, it will get stuck when closing in the upright position (hook arm being on the top), left position, and down position. To eliminate this binding, you must do my special little trick which will fix your release
If you plan on fixing your release, do it before you mount it in your glider. (Also, secure the pin with a small dab of JB Weld)
The steps are clearly shown in the pictures. You must slightly sand the little tooth (on the "left side") at an angle so that it doesnt catch the slot.

    Have fun!

That looks easy to do and provides a nice lead-in for the sheet metal edge to go into the slot.

Another modification I think makes sense is to add a spring so that the servo is only pulling (on a wire or string) and never has to push to get the tow release engaged.

I like to have my servo's "push" and "pull" the release.....I know that it will engage.
Vintage wood is the BEST! But....every now and then a plastic missile can be quite enjoyable!
