Finally; the AFT is installed, and it moves perfectly after some sanding of the wooden frame.
Lesson learned: next time I'll order it pre-mounted

I don't want to sound too negative here, but don't expect it to work perfectly if it is pre-installed. I had to do a significant amount of sanding to get the unit in Mario's DG1000 to work smoothly. I was actually thinking just the opposite at the time - that it would have been easier to install it myself. In the end, I got it to work, so I guess all's well that ends well.
