Hey guys. I've got a Windfree that has been modified that should make for a good aerotow version of this classic model. The modifications consist of full span "flaperons" and solid carbon spars. Radio is a Futaba 6 channel that allows me to program in the flaperon functions.
On the day I was going to do the maiden flight, the wind was a bit too strong and while waiting for it to die down so I could launch, a really strong gust came through and flipped a pop up shade awning over. It of course landed right across the middle of the right wing and I thought "That's it for that wing". I was pleased to find that the spars had held against the impact and I only had to rebuild on rib cap and fix the covering. It's since had quite a few flights on it and I love the way it maneuvers with the ailerons and the flaps function makes it easy to hand catch if needed.
I've posted pictures of the finished model as well as on of it in its "bones".
Jeff
