How much is enough power
Hi,
So when the speed control failed in my DG1000, I did some looking to try and find a cause. One of the things I did was run the numbers through motocalc and another sim tool to see what the current levels could be. Good news, no over current condition ( I think the speed control was a lemon, I have a new one that I like better and is in and working ), bad news, motocalc says it won't fly. I tend to take these things with a grain of salt, but some of the numbers make sense and don't look good. The SLS has and 18x8 prop that will tun about 5200 RPM on the 8S pack and motor I have. This is a pitch speed of 58MPH. One number I'm not sure of is motocalc predicts a stall speed of 27MPH. Does that sound correct for a sailplane of this type at 30lbs? What are the prop and RPM you are flying with on similar models?
Thanks
Joel
