I saw on the thread on reliable gas tug set up a suggestion of using carb air filters.
the picture shows a K and N crank case filter. I use K and N filters in all my full scale cars but I wonder if a crank case vent filter will handle the air volume needed by a big twin 150 cc motor ?
any idea if any one makes a holder to the carb for such a filter or if this is a scratch built item ??
any and all thoughts appreciated.

Mike Lance and I tried to make a K&N work on his Porter with a DA-150 but could not get it to work. Couldn't even get the engine to pop. I have been using a filter from DA for a long time on my Peg with a DA-100 and it has worked very well. It has a foam filter which needs to be cleaned with soap and water periodically. It also will deteriorate but you can make more fairly easily with foam rubber and RTV. Some of the guys at Visalia had engine damage from grass clippings getting sucked up into the engine, so even from grass I would recommend a filter.
Hi Kevin,
The K&n filters I usually use, I don't oil them. I don't fly off of dusty fields anyway. Oiling them does reduce the power. It's more to prevent ingesting of foreign matter into the engine. Solid "full depth" foam filters even dry are very restrictive. At the time of the writing of the article I didn't have these filters. One of them is similar to a K&N and the other one is a hollow foam filter which is A LOT less restrictive. It's a lot lighter too. These two have an opening of 1 3/4" I.D. and will use a venturi type inlet that securely attaches the filter to it with a hose clamp. Will post pictures later. Info about it will have to be at a later date.
I picked up one of these filters from ADA Racing. For my DA 120, I needed to replace the stock carburetor bolts with some metric threaded rod and nylon lined lock nuts, but those items were readily availably from McMaster-Carr. The filter itself is well made, and incredibly inexpensive...
